9)The table lists conflicting prefix meaning for Decimal and
Binary values
a) Define each of the standards/groups
involved {SI, IEC, JEDEC}
b) Explain in what circumstances usage of the
SI or IEC respectively prefixes are appropriate.
c) What is the percentage discrepancy
between the two meanings at the K and G magnitude
levels?
d) In the context of microprocessor
systems, what should be the most common usage of the IEC
prefixes?

Definations are as follows:
1. JEDEC: Its basically a memory standard and its provides the
specifications for the various semiconductor memory circuits. JEDEC
stands for Joint Electron Device Engineering council.
2. SI: It stand for International System of Units. Its mostly
used as an system for measurement.
3. IEC: Its stand for International Electrotechnical Commission.
Its also an international organization of standards.
The circumstances where usage is appropirate are:
i) In electrial engineering problems calculation we can use these
standards
ii) As all computer science students count all the things in powers
of two , so these stands can be used there also.
In microprocessor systems varioius calculations and
manipulations are being done in IEC stands. So you can say that IEC
stands are the core of any microprocessor systems
